Dong Wang is currently working on the ACIAR-funded project – ‘Understanding the drivers of successful and inclusive rural regional transformation: Sharing experiences and policy advice in Bangladesh, China, Indonesia and Pakistan’ – as a Postdoctoral Fellow, in the Crawford School of Public Policy at The Australian National University. He is an applied economist interested in Agricultural Economics, Development Economics, Resource and Environmental Economics and Applied Econometrics. He is also keen on the issues of the Chinese Economy.

Dong graduated from Crawford School in 2013 with awarding the Master of Environmental and Resource Economics. After that, he moved to Perth and completed the PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Western Australia. He worked in the Western Australian agricultural industry in 2018, funded by the Industry and PhD Research Engagement Program (iPREP WA). At the beginning of 2019, Dong drove from Perth to Melbourne, crossing the Nullarbor Plain and Outback South Australia. He worked in Melbourne for two years and then came back to Canberra in 2021. Dong comes from Inner Mongolia of China. Before moving to Australia, he studied and worked in Jiangsu and Beijing. Dong completed a Bachelor of Engineering (IT) from China University of Mining and Technology and a dual Bachelor Degree in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics (China). He also holds a professional degree of Master of Project Management from Sichuan University (China).
